I am thinking about pursuing an career as an air traffic controller. I know it’s not guaranteed that you’ll be accepted but I’m just wondering if it would do any good to earn an Associate’s Degree AND a certificate specializing in Air Traffic Control or will it help to get both? The school that I’m attending the AT-CTI program is at CCBC (Community College of Baltimore County). I don’t live in MD but it’s by far, the closest school that offers an AT-CTI program. It’ll also be helpful if I’m given more info or advice on being an Air Traffic Controller. Thanks 
An Associates degree, while it wouldn’t hurt you, wouldn’t necessarily help you. A certificate if there is such an animal from a college, shows that you have a familiarity with air traffic control and regulations. Your best training, in my opinion, would to get your training in the Air Force. It would almost guarantee you a career as an air traffic controller when you get out. It is only four years, and they pay you to do it.

Your chances of becoming an traffic controller go beyond just your education. Physical and mental health are part of the equation also.
Memory and working with numbers. You have to remember where aircraft are located, headings of a compass, altitudes, and aircraft identification numbers.
Equipment today helps to alleviate a lot of this. Sign up and take the tests. I believe Air Traffic Controllers Training School is still in Oklahoma.
I have a relative who gradated from non-aviation college; went to Controllers Training and is an Air Traffic Controller.
