How to increase targeted website traffic for free?

So I found out the hard way that simply building a website does not guarantee that you will automatically get traffic to your website. I have been doing some digging online and I found a great ‘how to’ traffic guide http://www.gurutrafficsecrets.com However it only deals with the old traffic tactics. I have been hearing a lot about web 2.0 traffic lately. You know traffic from Myspace, facebook, hubpages etc. Where can I find a guide that shows me how to set up this ‘new age’ traffic. I am looking for an all inclusive, simple and straight forward guide. God knows my website really needs some traffic. lol

Search engine optimisation – are drop-down keyword search lists a good idea?

I’m marketing a website we’re launching in a couple of months time and trying to think of as many ways as possible to drive traffic to it.

I know that by having keywords in the content is one of the most important elements for crawler search-engines. I was wondering if having a drop-down list of all the keywords that someone might search the site by in the site-search facility (so long as they have an article to link to) will help. Or will search engines discount such a way of displaying all the keywords?

Search engines work on complex algorithmic formulas and calculations which ultimately determine the quality user experience that a web browser will experience when navigating to your site.
You will however get ‘penalized’ or sent to the back of the line when you spam on too many keywords on to your site-they call this keyword density- and a good percentage to go for is usually around 7% keyword density.
Using a scroll down menu with your keywords is not a bad idea as long as the page or article which it links to is highly targeted or ‘relevant’ and does not appear as ‘tacky’.
Use phrases: if your keyword is "widgets" use stuff like "green widgets" or "widgets in red" etc… u get the idea.

Web hosting?

I want to host my web forum.
I have 10000 members and it is a busy site. Also members can upload their own pics into gallery, other than that its all text posts aside from signiture pics etc
so what kind of bandwidth/traffic and web space do i need to buy ?
the last thing i need is to pay for hosting and find that peolple cant post every third week because it has run out..
what do peole recommend, i was looking at unlimited bandwidth, unlimited webspace but i dont know if that is necessay.. is what is the best one to go for ?

How can I get better organic traffic into my arcade site?

I’ve done traffic exchanges, directory submitting, SEO, article writing, E-mail refering, premium link exchanging. So far link referal has helped the most. It grabs about 20 uniques a day if I spend 10 minutes on their site, but I’m out of idea’s. Since google is updating their Pagerank soon I need to really get noticed quickly. This is a serious question, but is there anything else that I can do that will easily bring in organic traffic?

How can I get instant traffic to my website?

Hello. I have just launched a new social network website which I am thrilled to bits with but, the only problem is that I need to generate a lot of traffic. I have tried everything including search engine optimization, writing articles, opt in lists the works & yet, still don’t seem to be generating any traffic.

does anyone know of a good keyword research course to take up?

SEO key word reasearch is obviously vital for getting good traffic. there is an abundance of information and personal opinions around. i am looking for a definitive guide to help me and my staff to focus and use some of the best techniques for SEO work as well as to understand how the research should be carried out. I am looking to explain competition results to my customers and how to do this analysis.
does anyone have a really good comprehensive course?

The basics of SEO can be found easily by searching for something like "basics of seo" on Google and by reading some of the top SEO forums like www.seroundtable.com or www.searchengineland.com.

The problem with SEO is there are basic points that you should do that get you to a level playing field with say about 500 to 1000 other competitiors for a set of phrases.

Only about 30 of those 500 to 1000 can really get any visibility. So what is the value of being the 100 position in a search engine … None.

You need out of the box thinking and solutions to get you to the top of the 500 to 1000 people already doing basic seo.

You need to go ahead and get going on the basics but don’t expect to find yourself in the top of the search engines cause you changed your title tag and put a link or two in some directory.

How to drive organic traffic to a website – Only SEO experts please.?

First I would like to tell that I am not a newbie website owner.
My site is 2 weeks old and gets 200-350 unique visitors a day – organic google. most of the leading keywords drive the traffic.
I am an SEO in my country and it is the first time to work abroad (global world).

I uses Digg, Stumble, Carnival , site directories, SE submissions, Propeller, google bookmark, technocrati and also comment on blogs.

I don’t take into account Linkedin, facebook and twitter- they drive 100 a day As the moment I stop promoting the site, these sources will dry out.

Now, I need a VALUE-ADDED advice from an SEO expert – how to step up the ladder to the 2000 daily organic visitors.

Is necessary to get a certificate in Air Traffic Control as well as an Associate’s Degree?

I am thinking about pursuing an career as an air traffic controller. I know it’s not guaranteed that you’ll be accepted but I’m just wondering if it would do any good to earn an Associate’s Degree AND a certificate specializing in Air Traffic Control or will it help to get both? The school that I’m attending the AT-CTI program is at CCBC (Community College of Baltimore County). I don’t live in MD but it’s by far, the closest school that offers an AT-CTI program. It’ll also be helpful if I’m given more info or advice on being an Air Traffic Controller. Thanks

An Associates degree, while it wouldn’t hurt you, wouldn’t necessarily help you. A certificate if there is such an animal from a college, shows that you have a familiarity with air traffic control and regulations. Your best training, in my opinion, would to get your training in the Air Force. It would almost guarantee you a career as an air traffic controller when you get out. It is only four years, and they pay you to do it.

Can you still get a lot of web traffic using other people’s articles from ezinearticles on your site?

If you talk a bit about the article and then box the article with a link to their site "unedited" and you still place the keywords in the right spots on the page and use profitable keywords can you STILL rank using their content or will google frown on this?

Google is increasingly scrutinizing article submission directories.
